Arte del Sol : Caribbean and Latin American Arts is designed as a library of reference images rather than as a museum. Some of the images collected here are from museum and library collections, but the majority are from personal collections. Most were collected by research faculty from a wide variety of fields during their travels thoughout the Caribbean and Latin America.

Arte del Sol, or "Art of the Sun" in English, is a collection of baskets and pottery, costumes and masks, textiles and other everyday objects. Many represent the culture of a particular region; so even among types of objects, differences can be seen easily.
